We use the names of your competitors to analyse their websites to compare to yours in order to find what they are doing (that is working) that you should be doing as well. We also check what keywords they are using and which market segment/demographics/avatars they are targeting.
We will install Google analytics software on your new website and show you how to log into your Google analytics account where you can see a wide range of statistics about your website including number of visits, page views than the amount of time people are spending on your website.
We will also provide statistics as part of our monthly reporting to you.
For websites we build and support we make sure they are hosted by a company that specialises in WordPress hosting. There are many companies that do this. WP Engine, Siteground and Flywheel are just a few who specialise in this area. We choose one based on your needs.
For Homepage Renos we use your existing host but are more than happy to make a personal recommendation should you be interested in moving your hosting.
WordPress is open source content management software and currently powers over 25% of all websites on the Internet. The project is contributed to by tens of thousands of developers all over the world and is growing from strength to strength. WordPress allows us to develop flexible and customisable websites to modern standards and observes web development best practices. Furthermore the community of web developers that use WordPress reaches far and wide and allows us to tap in to this collective intelligence and bring that wealth of experience to your project.
An interactive prototype is a black and white version of your website that is designed to prove the functionality and features as they will work in the browser. No design elements are applied at this stage as the prototype is just built to allow all parties to make final decisions on the functionality.
Information architecture is the relationship of how all the different pages of a website are related to each other. This is communicated visually through a sitemap. We provide you with a sitemap at the early stage of a project to make sure your thinking and our planning are aligned.
No – we don’t want to lock you into a long-term contract. We genuinely want to be your online partner so we’ll strive to make sure you get what your business needs. If we do that you’d have no reason leave us (please don’t go!)
Yes – we understand that not everything old is retro-cool. ‘Daggy’ logos may be hurting your brand so maybe it is time for a refresh as part of the Homepage Reno. We can provide a few suggestions for you to consider but it will be an extra cost that we can discuss.
No and Yes – Our Homepage Reno product is completed in a quick-turnaround timeframe. Generally it’s ideal for business people who want a fast upgrade and then carry on managing the site themselves. We are happy to talk to you about paying in 2 instalments if cashflow is tight.
Alternatively you might like to consider one of our $0 upfront and pay-by-the-month plans. These plans comprise of a larger development phase with more functionality that you may not already have on your site,
Yes, if you’d like us to. After you have paid for the renovation you can decide to either manage the WordPress site yourself (we’ll show you how) or take up one of our Support Plans. This includes keeping everything up-to-date, secure and providing you with suggestions for future improvements to make sure your business website keeps up with online trends.
Yes – you do have to have an existing website. We take a look at your current site and come up with a plan to use your content along with new assets such as text, imagery and video to give your business a new lease on life.
Yes you can – we have a suggested set of questions we believe are relevant but you know your industry and business better than we do so feel free to request customised questions to ask your clients at the time of booking.
Nope. Everything is web-based, so all you need is an internet connection and a web browser. We recommend Internet Explorer 10 or higher (although Internet Explorer 8 or higher works), Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. You can access it on all devices, including all mobile devices and tablets.
After your client schedules their first appointment, they will be given the option to register for a client account on your Client’s Scheduling Page. This will allow them to:
- Bypass any forms they’ve already filled out when scheduling subsequent appointments.
- Sign in to your Client’s Scheduling Page to reschedule or cancel their existing appointments.
- View all upcoming and past appointments scheduled by the registered client.
Note: It is not mandatory for clients to register for a client account on your scheduling page. Clients will never be required to log in to schedule an appointment with your business.
If you scheduled an appointment on behalf of a client, they can click the the “view appointment details” link in the confirmation e-mail to go to the confirmation page for the appointment. That has the button to let them register for an account.
The online calendars that can be set up with 2-way synchronisation are: Google Calendar, iCloud, Office Outlook 365, Outlook.com, Outlook Exchange.
Here’s the info about 1-way sychronisation:
iCal: be sure to set the auto-refresh for how frequently you’d like iCal to check for updates. After subscribing you will see appointments in iCal.
Outlook: subscribed calendars show as a separate calendar, so you will see Acuity as a separate calendar. Click Send/Receive to force Outlook to update the Acuity calendar.
Outlook Web Access (Exchange): manually add a calendar by right clicking My Calendars in OWA, choosing Add Calendar, then entering the link to subscribe manually from below.
Outlook 365: manually add a calendar under File > Account Settings > Internet Calendars > New, then entering the link to subscribe manually from below.
Outlook for Mac: unfortunately does not support online calendar subscriptions. Acuity can sync with Office 365 and Exchange, which are supported by Outlook for Mac 2011 and 2016.
There are a lot of online scheduling products on the market (I’ve researched dozens of them) each offering slightly different services, features and pricing plans. From time to time we may recommend different 3rd party providers if a new product is introduced that represents better value and no drop in functionality or performance.
Yep – in a perfect world all your bookings would come via online but the reality is that some of your existing clients as well as new ones who may not know about the facility will still call your phone. You have 2 options for adding over-the-phone appointments:
1 – Use the scheduling facility integrated on your web site or standalone page and enter as if you were the client.
2 – Access the app (it’s really just a secure website) and add the appointment directly.
Both methods block someone else from that day/time (no double-bookings). We suggest that you let your customers know about the online form as soon as you can to encourage them to use it.
They sure are! The information provided by you when your account is first established along with your client submissions are securely processed and held by our third-party service providers. If you’d like specific information about the security settings just fire off a question via the form on this page and we’ll send you the info you need.
Sure thing – Acuity Scheduling don’t believe in locking you into a plan for life. Hopefully as your business grows you’ll need more capacity.
Yes – There are two components to the product. The first component is the design, build, test and deploy functions that we deliver and the second component is the monthly ongoing provision of the facilities including help-desk support delivered by the 3rd party service provider (Acuity Scheduling). Once you are satisfied with the build and integration you have no ongoing commitments to AndrewLockman.com (but we’d love to keep in touch). Acuity Scheduling provide the software, database capacity, reporting facilities and technical support as part of their account offering. They also have an excellent Knowledge Base with hints, tips and how-to’s.
Yes your subscription includes support that is provided by the 3rd party service provider (Acuity Scheduling) when required.
